Board Training Philosophy
Our organization is 100% volunteer-run and the hands-on involvement of our Board of Directors is critical to the success of our programs. To ensure that all of the members of the board have relevant, up-to-date training to help inform their governance and policy decisions; are fully-prepared to work with young people and adults in a positive, professional, productive, and encouraging way; and are equipped with the tools that they need to respond in a variety of situations, the board is required to complete and renew the following:
- SafeSport
- USA Softball ACE (Aspire, Challenge, Encourage) Coaching Program
- CDC Heads Up Concussion Training
- CPR/AED/First Aid
- Background Check
- Child Abuse Clearance
We are also proud to be a member of the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative and encourage board members to participate in their ongoing coaches' trainings such as their trauma-informed workshops in coordination with the Center for Healing and Justice in Sport.
